i've seen some pretty weird speccy setups but i have never, in my life seen it actually control a MIDI instrument. probably because everyone who wanted to do that in the mid-80s was using an Atari

it's true, the Spectrum 128K supported MIDI, but i doubt anyone ever used it (much??). up to 8 channels, you can program. but the on-board chip (AY-3, what is called "YM" on here WRONGLY) that's 3 channels only.
