Late in 1997 three guys, thousands of miles apart, started to have some very ambitious plans for Real World Benchmarks using the coolest real time graphics and cutting edge Demo scenes! From their "virtual" garage, with business plans and program specs being digitally transmitted between countries, they began to find more and more people who shared a passion for this kind of enterprise. And then it happened! In October 1998, the first in our series of world-famous 3DMark benchmarks was released. As with all of the benchmarks in this series, it measured the ability of your PC to process cutting edge graphics and compared your results against thousands of others, allowing you to make upgrading decisions that were right for you. In December 1999, MadOnion.com introduced 3DMark2000, the first of its internet-enabled benchmarks. While measuring the 3D gaming performance of your PC, it also allows you to compare your results online against tens of thousands of others.
