I think you mean it sounds like NES. But it's probably not tracked in famitracker but in s3m format with NES-sounds.

Is this version different at all from the .it module version? https://modarchive.org/index.php?request=view_by_moduleid&query=204318
The filenames, base frequencies, and instrument envelopes in the .it module would lead me to believe that it's the original (or at least a manual conversion by the composer)

okay, it seems the .it module was converted to .nsf using the it2nsf conversion tool or similar, which also creates multi-sample instruments with envelopes in IT. mystery solved
