brrrrr horrible -- i got to a point where i would pile stuff against the door, to stop me
Rapture(10:38:37)
if you are experte you could just poke poke poke haha. but well it's not as fast as assembler. so ppl want sonic-fastness.
mirrorbird(10:38:29)
i have (non computer related) sleepwalking experiences but i am sure i told you before
Rapture(10:38:07)
ah speccy ok i always understood poke that you can poke every byte. ok not always. since(for?) a few years!
mirrorbird(10:38:00)
stood up and coded? ummm. must have happened. who knows.
mirrorbird(10:37:41)
(TOTAL LIE, there must be some conversion process, i mean a VHS tape is not prepared Spectrum-ready... you actually could capture about one frame per 1.5 seconds lol)
Rapture(10:37:06)
OttoSketch.d64 - oh i stored it! mirror tell me if you ever stood up and the next second, continued coding, working. was it schlaftrunken (sleep-drunken) experience?

sampling audio -- well who knows in 2025. but back then you were just capturing values at a port, and storing them in memory. easy peasy. same with the video digitiser that made blocky pics of your video tape.
mirrorbird(10:34:16)
it did help me understand "oh, you just have to measure values at a port-mapped address at a certain time" -- just like how you suddenly understood how the program is the same space you POKE into.

Rap: there was an ancient voice recorder on the speccy, using the tape deck, lol
