Based on some exchanges with an artist recently, we've decided to change how "Removed by Request" tunes are handled. They used to simply become non-requestable, but if an artist wanted to really not have the tune on Nectarine at all (for example, it was early work that they wish had never been uploaded), that's hardly satisfactory, as it still looks like part of their canon on the artist page, and the comments, ratings, etc are all still there (and more comments could be posted, votes made, etc). So we are changing this so that such tunes are no longer listed on the artist's page, and the metadata (rating, comments, etc) cannot be seen either, though staff have access to it in case the artist changes his or her mind, or the metadata is needed later for some reason. Should an artist want a tune to be non-requestable, but the metadata left active, we can set the tune to "Inactive" instead, which is the general catch-all status for tunes which were accepted onto Necta but not currently requestable. |
