This sounds like it's using fast timer interrupt driven pulse width modulation. The YM sound chip cannot produce the PWM effect by itself, if only controlled by a slow interrupt like 50/60Hz vertical blank interrupt. PWM is possible to do on Atari ST, but not practically possible on many other YM systems. |
