i "remixed" (arf) some hi speed gabba song circa 2000, and i have never been able to find the original again, which is funny
mirrorbird(02:22:08)
i would tweak the site a bit (the finding/searching is very 1990s and poor) but the content, and general attitude, is what we need, yes yes
mirrorbird(02:21:37)
he also has done some very good songs

yeah what i like about modarchive is their zero-curation approach. ████ty amiga jungle made by a 40year old bricklayer in the early 90s, right next to lizardking
mirrorbird(02:21:12)
modarchive m0d hung around here briefly before he died, he was very cool and i wish he had wanted to spend time with us before. hey-ho
mirrorbird(02:20:35)
that "modarchive" site is hugely important, a piece of history that is not well documented elsewhere (the runner-up would be Amiga AMP, but that one of course won't have all the PC FastTracker crap and what not)

water off a duck's back. the trackerscene knows that if the demoscene wants decent music in their demos there'll always be a door open
mirrorbird(02:19:52)
however it's obviously been easy for demo places to get flooded by any old random stuff. we even have ongoing arguments about game music, for the same reason, blah blah
mirrorbird(02:19:20)
and i must admit once or twice i've been the one who has sneered at 'trackerscene' as not really being a demo thing. unfairly. cause they're both (you said sth about 'outsider cultures' like a sociology academic -- they are both digital undergrounds --
atinypony(02:18:37)
yeah i only started getting into the scene at the dawn of the internet age, so i attended a couple of swap meets then filesharing hit the scene and we never had to go outside ever again
