Haven't been active here for quite a while due to constant lack of time. Found out about Ultrasyd just now. Damn, I'm shocked. Really, really sad now Have met him in real life a long long time ago at Revision... Basically LittleWhite have already said what I think. Totally agree with that.

It is sad info... Big loss for the scene. As long as we remember he will be alive in our minds. His songs will remind us about his awesome abilities to make music.

R.I.P. m0d. He was in the OneLiner just a couple of weeks ago. I think he had his artist profile picture updated. He even responded when I queued Sudden Uplift while he was online.

Geoff Follin (Musical Composer) (1966 - May 2024) Geoff Follin was an English video game musician known for his contributions to the gaming industry during its formative years. Born around 1966, Geoff was part of a musical family, with both his mother and grandmother playing the piano, and he himself participating in the church choir. He received lessons in trumpet, piano, and guitar, nurturing his musical talents from a young age. He later attended the University of Nottingham, where he studied Environmental Biology, driven by a passion for nature. Despite his academic background, Geoff's career took a significant turn when his brother Tim, also a renowned video game composer, invited him to join Software Creations. There, Geoff's musical prowess shone as he composed memorable soundtracks for a variety of platforms including the ZX Spectrum, Commodore 64, NES, and SNES. His influences ranged from progressive rock bands like Yes and Genesis to the electronic sounds of Vangelis and folk music. Notably, Geoff had a preference for the SNES due to its superior instrument samples, though he was less fond of working with the Game Boy. In his later years, Geoff sought a more fulfilling career outside of the video game industry, leaving behind a legacy of music that fans continue to cherish. Tragically, Geoff passed away in May 2024 after a battle with pancreatic cancer. His death was announced by his brother Tim on May 30, 2024, through a heartfelt post on Facebook. Geoff is remembered not only for his musical contributions but also for his quick work pace and deep appreciation for his supporters. Geoff leaves behind an amazing wife and three children. |
