I want to begin doign music. I have a computer ready, while i need maybe to have a special operating system, running debianlinux here. Anyone have an idea, with what software to start some music creation, that would be serious enough to compete with some "scener's sound". I like tips for beginners. Thanks in advance.

For newschool tracker type programs there is a non-free and commercial program for Linux called Renoise. OpenMPT is another tracker program with newschool features (free, non-commercial) and while it does not directly run on Linux it works fairly well when used through WINE.

Professional sequencer type programs are not so well available for Linux but at least there are some sequencer type programs like Qtractor, Rosegarden, Muse (at least Rosegarden is said to be good amateur level DAW, but does not contain the features of commercial programs). Some others may work through WINE.

Depending on what do you mean by "scener's sound" also oldskool tracker programs (with essentially less features) such as SchismTracker may be enough for you. If IT modules sound good enough for you, this may be a good program to start practicing with.
