i actually wouldnt mind beign a translator, altho i couldnt be an arabic translator just yet. im fluent in my dialect, egyptian arabic. "real" arabic is very grammatically challenging and i'd need to refresh my knowledge on it a LOT

BUT it's true. let me rephrase, i bet you can find a place where you can do some significant design work AND use lang skills,. im not kidding, employers will drool over that

i realised after i said it that was a dumb comment because if you do smoething you don't wanna do then -- you know. you wanna draw and they decide you're a translator. that sucks. you will leave and wil both be unhappy

you can be pretty bad and not get fired as long as you're good at *something* nobody else is doing.

am i saying bad things? it's true

once you're hired you can find a space to do what you're good at because it's economically sound for them to work that out, it's expensive to fire people

maybe you wanna draw but if you can speak 2 mystery langs to an interviewer they might fall in love

i would push your language skills. if you've got german and arabic, that's pretty impressive, and graphic design is usually part of marketing, and that's part of communication

but my first job was definitely send out lots, get a little back.

I can't offer a whole lot of new advice; my current job I found out about through someone I knew who got me in touch with someone I knew. It was an official posting though, so I had to apply/compete just like everyone else.

unless you get super lucky and they want to localise for the middle east but aren't sure which icons to flip.

noodi10, ah dang. I knew someone though who got contacted about a job offer (which they accepted) three months after they'd applied. (MIght have been a bit more.) In that time they'd taken another job instead and had been working there the entire time.
