Oneliner History

There's a lot of assumptions made when you do that kind of thing. For example, if a tune slows down to a stall, but you ignore the stall, you need to assume the playback speed is reset to some common value.

i would like to argue about this

flagvelusip

My guess: there's an effect instruction to stall or halt progress. So I'm guessing it has that at 34s, but since the playback routine is provided an explicit time longer than that point, certain interpreter options are set which overlooks that instruction.

but WHY

flagmirrorbird
23 March 2019 04:17

necta knows stuff we don't, bc someone approved the 0'34 song, and put a longer duration, and it plays correctly

flagmirrorbird
23 March 2019 04:17

anyway. unless there's an internal loop in the patterning why would you only play the first one

flagmirrorbird
23 March 2019 04:16

"auto" is what you write when you're secretly sick of c++ but you hate all the other-- *cough*

flagmirrorbird
23 March 2019 04:16

aww "auto"

flagvelusip
23 March 2019 04:15

But there's one heck of a dive to figure that out.

I don't recommend it: https://github.com

yeah can't find it, scrolled off the recent songs

flagmirrorbird
23 March 2019 04:07

i just don't understand how it makes sense. in partic if the playlist says 0'34 that's not "fair" if the actual playback may continue to any unspecified time

flagmirrorbird
23 March 2019 04:06

doen't really matter on necta -- this tune was meant to contain several tunes from one game, seems to be ok once the duration was set (bc it just plays to that length)

libopenmpt

flagvelusip
23 March 2019 04:05

Maybe there's an option to control that. Which library does VLC use for mods?

flagmirrorbird
23 March 2019 04:05

and if it's meant to loop back to the start, then playing the extra stuff is incorrect behaviour anyway

flagmirrorbird
23 March 2019 04:04

but latset VLC wlil continue to play other patterns after the advertised time.

flagmirrorbird
23 March 2019 04:03

player should only look at the ones that WILL play, and predict that time

flagmirrorbird
23 March 2019 04:03

what confuses me is:

flagmirrorbird
23 March 2019 04:02

yeah i get the idea that you can block them because there is a sort of "program" in a module that says which ones to play, yes

flagvelusip
23 March 2019 04:02

Oh, you can also just not put certain patterns in the sequence. That's what's referred to as subtunes. Finding those requires more cleverness.

flagmirrorbird
23 March 2019 04:02

(lol happy vernal equinox)

flagmirrorbird
23 March 2019 04:01

maybe if i check recent updatres list....

flagmirrorbird
23 March 2019 04:01

gahhh lemme see if i can remember the track

flagvelusip

Happy Saturday!

hidden subtunes are patterns that are never queued in the pattern list, like you speculate

flagvelusip
23 March 2019 04:00

hehe. that's fun with "stalls" at the "end" of a mod. The sequence list can be longer than a tune if a pattern says so. What happens next with the rest of the sequence is ambiguous, but a clever player will try someting, and provide options to exit a stall

flagmirrorbird

velu is it 8 pm there?

flagmirrorbird
23 March 2019 03:58

VLC wouldn't play it. lol. anyway. just wondered if we got any mod nerds in here. seems a good place to ask
